Nuits-Saint-Georges, a historic town central to Burgundy's winemaking tradition, lends its name to the Côte de Nuits and its renowned wine, named after Saint Georges. Its AOC, established in September 1936, includes the neighboring commune of Premeaux-Prissey, producing primarily Pinot Noir with some Chardonnay plots. The soils vary, with the northern sector featuring pebbly alluvium and silty deposits, while the southern sector has deep marly-limestone soils with rocky outcrops at higher elevations. The vineyards generally face east or southeast, benefiting from optimal sun exposure.

The Land
The wines of Santenay exhibit distinct characteristics stemming from their specific terroirs within the appellation. Established in 1937, the Santenay AOC status underscores the area's viticultural significance. The terroir comprises grayish limestone dominating the higher elevations up to 500 meters, transitioning into oolitic limestones, marls, and other geological formations lower down the slope. This diverse landscape, coupled with an optimal vineyard exposure ranging from east to south, contributes to the quality and complexity of the wines produced in the region. We have been proud owners of Santenay vineyards since 2015 bringing innovation to the rich heritage of the land and wines.
