Aromatic and expressive, the 2016 Maison Evenstad Gevrey-Chambertin ‘Champs Chenys’ is a classic example of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. The strawberry, violet and rose bouquet leaps from the glass. Silky and elegant on the palate, it’s round, soft tannins frame dark red fruits with a hint of orange peel. The finish is long and memorable. It is gorgeous now but will fully blossom with a few years of patient cellaring.
