A complex blend of Syrah and Pinot Noir, the 2014 Grand Cheval is a dark shade of violet. Expressive aromas of dark fruits, peppercorn, and cocoa dusted truffle radiate from the glass. Lush tannins built to age beautifully fill the mouth and showcase dark chocolate, light roasted coffee and dark cherry flavors. The finish is long and persistent. This is an opulent wine in elegant balance that was built to age and evolve gracefully over time.

The Story

About ‘Grand Cheval’

Grand Cheval is a cherished cornerstone of Domaine Serene created by our late co-founder Ken Evenstad that honors the legacy of his grandfather, a dedicated immigrant farmer who worked tirelessly alongside his loyal workhorse.

To make Grand Cheval we take the best characteristics of two very different varietals, Syrah from the Walla Walla Valley, and our own Pinot Noir grapes from the Dundee Hills, and blend them in perfect harmony to create our own version of the ideal “steakhouse wine.” This wine is substantial enough for the richest of dishes, yet soft enough to please any palate.
