Rusty Field
Where are you from?
I grew up in Minnesota and finished high school in Boston. After college in CA and MA, I lived in Western NY for five years before moving back to MN.
What were you doing before coming to Domaine Serene?
Before joining, I was the CEO of Upsher-Smith Laboratories, a generic and migraine/epilepsy brand pharmaceutical company in MN. Prior to that, I spent 5 years at United Health Group and Ameriprise Financial. All my roles were focused on general management of business, marketing, and sales.
What brought you into the wine industry? Why the passion for wine?
I really fell in love with wine and Domaine Serene through my time with Ken, Grace, and Mark at Upsher-Smith. We would hold many business and customer meetings at the winery. The attention to excellence at Domaine Serene mirrored the environment they created at Upsher-Smith, which really motivates me!
What is your role at Domaine Serene and what do you enjoy most about it?
My role is CEO and President of Evenstad Estates, which oversees our wine businesses in Oregon and France along with all our property development. Successful businesses have amazing, talented people who are engaged and committed to their success. They also have incredible relationships with customers. Building our team and deepening our bonds with customers drives me every day!
What sets Domaine Serene apart from any other winery?
The quality of our wine, our club members, and our people. Our relentless dedication to making the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the world never wavers. Our relationship with our club members is powerful and unique. Our people drive our success. We always look to get better.
What is your favorite food and wine pairing?
The first thing that popped into my mind is Thanksgiving dinner – all of the savory flavors mixed with our delicious Pinot Noir are AMAZING.
