The winemaking history of this iconic town dates back to the Middle Ages, when the Dukes of Burgundy produced the renowned Pinot Vermilion red wine, known for its aromatic and fiery qualities. In the synclinal of Volnay, the Comblanchien limestone gives way to the Rauracian layer, resulting in steep slopes with thin, scree-derived black rendzinas. The lower slopes feature Argovian marls, deep soils of various shades, and a mixture of limestones and clay. With optimal exposure facing east to due south and altitudes ranging from 220 to 300 meters, the vineyards in Beaune benefit from favorable conditions for grape cultivation. We are thankful for the special partnership we have with the local negotiant. The wines produced in this collaboration are highly age-worthy and have been crafted using organic and biodynamic methods.
