If you want to spot local vintners and at the same time enjoy a great meal, head to the Dundee Bistro on 7 th and 99W in Dundee. Chef Jason Smith will provide you with creative, fresh, upscale Northwest cuisine. Jason is a tall, affable young man who really loves to cook as his ever-changing menu shows. Sommelier Erica Landon is very knowledgeable and friendly and will be happy to help you with your wine selection. Some rare, single-vineyard wines from Domaine Serene are a part of her extensive wine list, and you can get our Rockblock “Del Rio Vineyard” Syrah by-the-glass. All of the best Oregon vintners are represented as well as some interesting Burgundies and a few well selected German, Italian, New Zealand, Washington and other French wines.

But let’s get back to the food. The lunch menu changes daily, however there are regular starters including Duck Liver Mousseline ($8), Puget Sound clams ($9) and Northwest Oysters ($9). Lunch main courses include delicious hand-tossed pizzas ($11-$12), a Painted Hills “All Natural” Burger ($10), excellent Alaskan Halibut Fish & Chips ($12) and a preparation of Salmon (smoked, grilled or roasted).

The dinner menu starters repeat a number of dishes from the lunch menu, including the pizzas. One of my favorites for lunch alone, or as a starter at dinner, is the Duck Leg Confit Salad with endive, pickled onions and white truffle ($10). Main course favorites are the Carlton Farms Roasted Pork Loin with sweet potato mash, grilled pear and currant pan sauce ($18) and Sudan Farms Lamb Rack with Cannelini beans ($20). Enjoy!

The Dundee Bistro is owned by thr Ponzi Family of Ponzi Vineyards fame. A wine bar (Ponzi Wine Bar) adjoins the Bistro and has a large selection of Willamette Valley wines. - Ken Evenstad
